Displaying Row Attachments on a Dashboard?

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping someone can help with a dashboard question.

Context: We have students and faculty applying for grants through a Smartsheet form. They submit attachments as part of the application — typically resumes, narratives, budget worksheets, and references. These submissions feed into a sheet, and we’ve set up a dashboard for our review committee to access relevant application info.

On the dashboard, we’ve added a report that shows each committee member the applications they’re assigned to review. However, the issue is that the attachment icon doesn’t appear on the report when viewed on the dashboard, so reviewers can't access the uploaded documents directly.

We’d really like to make this process seamless for our reviewers (especially those less tech-savvy), ideally having all necessary materials accessible in one place — the dashboard.

Question: Is there a way to make row attachments visible or accessible directly from a report widget on the dashboard? Or are there any workarounds people have used for this kind of situation?

you’re not alone in running into this limitation! In Smartsheet dashboards, the report widget does not currently display attachment icons or allow reviewers to access attachments directly from the dashboard report view.

Add a Hyperlink Column for Attachments

• Create a column (e.g., Attachments Link) in your application sheet.
• When submissions come in, copy the attachment URLs into that column (this can be automated using Smartsheet Bridge or manual if needed).
• Reports can then display clickable links to the documents.
• This way, when viewed on the dashboard, reviewers can click the links directly.
