We are at the beginning of our Smartsheet implementation and are having issues with assigning tasks to project team members that do not have Smartsheet licenses.  The error we receive is:

The user never receives the email referenced in the error message so they are unable to proceed.

Have any of you run into this issue?  If yes, what did you do to resolve it?

  • Sorry, the cut and paste of the file into the messaged doesn't appear to have worked so I uploaded a jpeg image of the error

Have you checked the Alerts & Actions Permissions in your account admin?

Account Administration > Account Settings > Alerts & Actions Permissions

    Choose the appropriate restriction level:

    • Users shared to this sheet
    • Users shared to the sheet or users in the sheet owner's account
    • Any email address

Then check the alerts and Actions notification settings in the sheet itself.

The error message says there is already an account using that email address. Have you checked the user's spam/junk mail box?
