Description:
Currently, users who are not assigned to a project in Resource Management can still log time using the “Report Time for Something Else” option.
While I understand this is by design, it presents a challenge for maintaining accurate time-tracking data and project accountability. Time logging restriction to assigned projects or approved non-project tasks will help prevent data inconsistencies and ensure compliance with internal reporting policies.
Proposed Enhancement:
Add an admin-level setting or permission control that allows organizations to:
- Restrict time entry only to projects where the user is assigned, or
- Define which non-project activities (like training or leave) are acceptable for unassigned time logging.
Impact:
Implementing this feature would:
- Improve data accuracy in time tracking and reporting
- Reduce administrative overhead from correcting unassigned time entries
- Strengthen governance and compliance for organizations using Resource Management for workforce planning.
