Good day,
We recently encountered a situation on our manufacturing floor where a bottleneck in one area was impacting downstream processes. To address this, we explored options for reallocating cross-trained employees across the facility.
Each workstation produces a fixed volume of product based on the number of operators assigned. For example:
- Station A: 4 tons per hour per operator
- Station B: 3 tons per hour per operator
Our goal is to track resource output using RM so we can:
- Estimate expected output based on resource allocation
- Compare expected versus actual performance
Currently, RM seems well-suited for tracking hours and costs (expected vs. actual), but not quantities.
Does anyone have experience or recommendations on how to manage this effectively for level loading across a manufacturing floor? Even if this is using RM or another similar method?
