Removing Resources

Novice question, I'm sure.  Building a project plan, i had added "placeholder" users until the roles were filled by actual people.  Now that I no longer need the placeholders, how do I go about removing resources from the list to eliminate clutter?  Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    Are the placeholders in a contact list column in your sheet? You can just select the cells and press the backspace/delete button on your keyboard.  When you click the dropdown menu in a contact list cell, you will see all the users that are assigned to tasks in you sheet. Once you delete the placeholders, you should see those names disappear from the dropdown menu.
