Email Notification View

We use Smartsheet notifications and receive emails frequently letting us know that a task was completed, and it is now our turn to work on a task. We use MS Outlook as our email client, and within here I like to use the preview pane. When I receive the Smartsheet notification, I cannot see the task that is ready for me to begin in the preview pane (without scrolling) due to the enormous header of the notification. It doesn't matter what orientation I have the preview pane either, the header prevents the critical information from being displayed.

Is there a way to change this? If not, can this be a submission for the Smartsheet team?

  • Hi David,

You might try editing the notification rule to exclude certain columns from the notification such that it provides only the most relevant info. You can edit the rule with the steps in our help center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/542904-using-notifications

From looking at your screenshot, it also looks like a lot of this is due to the outlook interface and having a small window to view the mail in. If you're able to reduce the real estate that your left panel of mails is taking up, you'd free up more real estate for the email itself.

I think the combined efforts above will reduce your need to scroll.

  • Thank you for replying. I have looked over the modification to the notification email. The columns aren't what is preventing me from seeing the information. I need to see what's in the row below the first row. I've also tried modifying my Outlook preview pane, and nothing helps.

To try and illustrate further, I forwarded a new notification to my personal gmail account. I have attached a snippet. Notice how much landscape the header takes up (outlined in red)?

This seems to be something designed from Smartsheet, and not something that I can configure. Is there something that can be done to reduce the amount of space this takes up? It's such a waste.
