Workspace Permission Changes and Sheet Ownership
Hi, we changed some permissions on a workspace (made some Admins into Editor Can Share). It appears that when we did that, if they were the Owner of a particular sheet in the workspace, ownership was transferred to me. I am the sole Admin of the workspace but I am not the Owner of the workspace.
Why did ownership of the sheet change to me when a persons workspace permission level was changed to Editor?
Why would I become the sheet owner if I'm not the owner of the workspace?
Thanks.

Hi ker9,
I believe this happens if you're the one to change their permissions. If you set them to Editor on the workspace, they can no longer own sheets in the Workspace. That means that ownership becomes transferred to the licensed Admin that downgraded them.
If this isn't the case for you, please contact our Support team and we can track down the behavior.

This information should really be available in the Help articles about permissions and collaboration. I was looking again for confirmation of what will happen when I remove someone from a workspace - what happens to ownership of their items in the workspace. They do transfer to the Admin that removed them and it should be noted in the help files. Thank you.

Hey @ker9
Yes, I agree!
This information is currently set in a little "warning" note on this Help page: Share a workspace
If there's somewhere else you think this note should be placed, please use the "Was this article helpful?" feedback at the very bottom to send your suggestion to the Help team. 🙂
Thanks,
Genevieve
