Drop down lists

I'm sorry to ask what I think is a very basic question, but I've searched the knowledge base and I can't find the asnwer. I need to create a dropdown list that allows the user to make multiple selections from a predtermined list of choices.

 

Is this possible and which type of dropdown should I use? I believe I've tried all the options and have only been able to make a single selections from the list of choices. Maybe I'm missing a setting along the way?

If you right click on the column header and choose "Rename Column".  Then choose "Dropdown List" a box will appear to the right and you can place your dropdown choices there.

I don't think you are missing anything. If I undertand correctly, you want to allow a user to select more than one option for a give category or question.  The only way I'm aware is to have multiple columns for the same question.  Question 1.1, Question 1.2, etc. Then have the same list of items for all question 1's. They could then select multiple items for each.   Of course, it is possible that a user could select the same choice for both questions since by making a choice in Question 1.1 it doens't eliminate the choice in question 1.2.  Hope that makes sense.

Dropdown lists only allow you to select one item at a time, but you could manually type in mutliple answers in a dropdown cell.

Is there an update coming out to allow multiple selections from a drop down?  Or some type of mulitple choise?  Seems this is a big hole that could easily be addressed.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there isn't at the moment.

I guess that they will release it at the latest at the yearly Smartsheet Conference Engage in Sept. 30-Oct. 3.
