Nice suggestion Kara... I checked out the link to Azuqua...

 

BUT my goodness.. ridiculous pricing ranging from $225 - $900 per month!!

 

This puts it out of our range, just to have lookup functionality, although I'm sure it does a whole lot more. Makes pricing on Smartsheet look very good !

A VLOOKUP formula with cross-sheet referecing would be a first step toward adding database related features to Smartsheet. It would definitly be a major step forward!

Initially, it will be a lookup on one sheet, with cross sheet lookups down the road.

Kara, can you elaborate what "it will be a lookup on one sheet" means?

So if you want to do vlookup/hlookups, you have to have the reference table in the same smartsheet?  Why would they take an easier route to let you define smartsheet or part of a smartsheet as a global table that can be used to match up in other smartsheets?  Like Excel PowerPivot does.

Please push for lookup on a different sheet ASAP.  I don't think I have ever used lookup within the same sheet.

Same here, I cannot think of a situation where I would need to reference data from the same sheet... VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP and MATCH as always been about cross-sheet referencing.

Brett - yes, this will definitely be coming, but we are still working on the underlying code.

Lookup on the same sheet would be useful, but not as useful as a workspace-wide/different sheet lookup.

Account wide V-Lookup is surely the only way to go. V-Lookup on one sheet I can see no value to, opening it up across sheets would make than awesome platform.
