How to enter a formula referencing other cells within Duration?
Hello,
I have a column where I indicate the budgeted hours available for a task. Within the Duration cells, I would like to enter a formula that takes the budgeted hours, divides them by an efficiency factor and yields the resulting duration available for the task, however, I'm unable to enter any formulas into the duration cells. Any idea why and how I would accomplish this?
Thank you!

Being able to use formulas for a dependency column (date, duration, predecessor) is something I have been trying to accomplish for a while now. Hopefully someone is able to figure out a workaround...

Similar request, except that I have a "Total Budget" numeric column that summarizes the total of budgeted hours for a task across three different team members, and I would like to use the total budgeted hours for the duration to auto-calculate the end date, and thus manage if my milestones/deadlines will be achieved, as the budget amounts change.

Hi Gordon,
Can you share the sheet or some screenshots so I can get a better understanding of your set up?
Have a fantastic week!

Sure, please see attached/below. Basically, this is a standard, dependencies-enabled project sheet. The total budget column is a numeric column that is the sum of three numeric columns to the right and represents the total budgeted time in hours for that row's task on the project. I'd like to use that total amount (in hours) for the duration, such that the end date is auto-calculated by Smartsheet. The duration in the screenshot right now is manually keyed in to match the total column.
My objective is to see how our budgeted time estimates and start dates will impact the ability for the project to meet the project's deadline, using smartsheet's dependencies and key-path functionality. This would seem to be a standard type of feature for any project management system, yet I cannot figure out how to get it to work.

Ok.
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment because you can't have any formulas in the Duration column when dependencies are enabled, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
I hope this helps you!
Have a fantastic week!
