Is there a way for smartsheet to implement an auto-downfill function that allows users to input their desired formula into a column heading that makes every cell within that column (including cells added in the future) populate with said formula? This can help users decrease their time entering formulas and allow ease of expansion of the sheet.
Any formula that is in all preceeding cells in a column will be added to the new record line in that same column and calculated using relative references unless specified as an absolute reference in the formula itself.
@Brandon, I agree. Dragging a formula down through hundreds of pre-existing rows is incredibly and painstakingly slow. Google sheets allow users to double click the drag fill crosshair that appears and it will auto-fill down the formula.
Hi,
You probably already know that you can mark all the cells and then use CMD + D to fill down.

If there is already a formula in a column with 1000 rows and the current value of the formula is sometimes blank, the fill down can still be tedious and time consuming.
A column formula would be a time saver.

All of the formulas I have tried have only gotten me so far as the "AND". Adding in the dates screws it up. The goal is to determine if…
I am getting a lot of REF errors for my predecessors and I can't figure out why. At first I thought I might have REF for predecessors to predecessors but that's not the case. When I export the file into Excel it shows the IDs in the place where it shows REF in SS. Each time I refresh the file I feel like different values…
I am trying to create a sheet summary, where the field is a formula that relies on a contact card within a column. However, it keeps returning a result of "#NO MATCH". The columns involved are, 1:) Priority (symbol column) for Up, Unchanged, and Down, and 2:) Contact Card column. I am trying to get a sheet summary formula…
