Auto populate Assigned to based on reference

We have a project plan template and populate the 'assigned to' column with the role/title.

Once I copy the new project plan template, how could I automatically update the 'assigned to' by task based on a role/name mapping.

Could I have a project resources sheet with role and name and have the Project Plan tasks 'assigned to' fields auto populate with the role - name mapping?

you can definitely achieve what you are looking for with a VLOOKUP formula!

 

What you need is :

• a Master sheet with one column with the role/name and one column with the corresponding "assigned to"
• to modify your template to put a formula in the "assigned to" column.
