translating Content

Hi all,
Looking for any ideas, I am working on a sheet that is being used in 10 countries, currently, we use English as the main language, however, content can get lost in translation. is there any way for users to use their home language on a sheet and then translate it into English on a master sheet.
I have looked at Zapier but this is very unstable
All ideas welcome!!!
Thanks

Hi Andrew,
I have a few ideas, but I would want some more information. Can you describe the process in more detail and maybe provide some screenshots?
I hope this helps you!

Hi Andree
We have a sheet that has a series of actions that each county need to carry out, these are then collated onto one master sheet all of this is done in English. which cause an issue as context gets lost in translation.
What I am looking to do is each country updates their tasks in the mother language, then translated to English on the master sheet.
All ideas welcome

What I've done previously is to set up a Google Sheet with an automatic translation formula, but you would probably need to go thru the translation afterward because it's translated with the help of Google Translate.
Would that work for you?

Hello.
I would also be interested in a solution to have a smartsheet form with a google translate feature. Please let me know if you know something like that.
Thanks!

Hi Dan,
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
Have a fantastic weekend!

As much as I love Smartsheet it seems like their answer to every additional functionality is "great idea, that's on our list to develop." While I like that attitude generally, it is alarming the number of times I've heard it. Maybe there are newer threads on this topic about translation I haven't seen yet, but the age of this last post does not inspire confidence!
If anybody has updated information on this, please let me know, thanks!

Hmmm. I "think" I remember seeing a Bridge workflow that integrates into Google Translate, which allows you to perform translations.

We have multiple employees that do not read or speak English very well and they are required to submit several work related forms each day. It would be great if Smartsheet would automatically translate all aspects of a sheet or form to the users selected preferred language setting.

Hi all,
the same exact question just came in a meeting.
Several smartsheets will eventually be used in different countries and a simple translation function would be incredibly helpful.
We're using an intake form that populates the smartsheet.
Users from different countries will be using that intake form and the smartsheet associated with it.What would be awesome: A country dropdown list where the intake form user could select their country/language and upon making a selection the form would be translated.
As @earl_bennett had mentioned, there is a translate option offered by "Achievan" (https://www.smartsheet.com/marketplace/partners/achievan-previously-execute-strategy) using Google translate, that option is called Bridge.
Here is a link:Good luck to everyone with their Smartsheets,

Hi again,
here's what I did using a dropdown menu to have the use select their language (in this case it was Spanish).
I needed to have an intake form translated depending on the users selection in the dropdown:1)
I created a dropdown menu at the very top:
- English
- Spanish2)
Below I created a simple text fieldI went to google website translate:
, selected "Websites" at the top and pasted the English website address into the address bar, then selected "Spanish" as the output-/target language:After clicking the blue arrow a new website opened translated to Spanish.
3)
I then copied the entire URL of that translated website and pasted it into the text field in "Default Value" under Field Settings on the right:4)
A logic then had to be added to the dropdown (created under step 1) that would display the text field (created in step 2) once "Spanish" is selected.5)
In the Field Settings for the text box I added a helptext that tells the user to "Copy and paste the following link into your browser to get the Spanish version":The translated intake form, when used, displayed a notification window in the foreign language:
but after clicking on "Entiendo", the user was able to make entries that then populated the smartsheet as expected.
Hopefully this helps!
Enjoy smartsheeting,

Hi Andrew,
it's been quite a few years since your original post, you probably found a solution back then or might not even be using smartsheet anymore, who knows.
Anyway, the solution I posted seems to be working, did not take too much time to implement and did not cost a thing.
