Duplicate Sheets that sync
Hi All.
I am a Project Manager looking after new homes and I am trying to find a solution for sharing my sheets to both my clients as well as members of my team
If I have all my sheets in a Workspace all my clients can see eveery other sheet whihc is not ideal... Alternatively if I have to set up sharing separately for each sheet it is quite time consuming but it does give the separation required
What I was wondering is if it is possible to have 2 copies of the same sheet ie: one sitting in a folder shared to the client with another sitting in a workspace viewable to my team where if I make a change to the sheet, both copies are updated / synced
Fingers crossed

Hi Glen,
I do not know the answer to your question, but I also have several uses for this type of functionality! My fingers are crossed too.

I think it is a bit of work to set up but you could keep two sheets in two workspaces in sync with cell linking.
You create a source sheet in you own workspace in which you update the information and link these cells in a sheet for your clients in a different workspace. Make sure that you give your clients viewer access only so that they do not mess up the information.
We do this in our project and this works well.

Victor,
So with the cell linking solution, do you have to link the cells each time you add a new row, or is there a way to link the entire columns so that the other sheet is updated each time a new row is added to the source sheet?

I don't know. That is not the setup that I have. I feed calcuations in the links cells. You will have to try that.
You should try.

I just tried and it does not appear that is an option. Perhaps a smartsheet employee would know a work-around.

Glen, have you used our publishing feature? Publishing a sheet allows you to give anyone (Smartsheet user or not) access to a sheet, without sharing it, the way you would normally share a sheet or workspace.
With the publish feature:
-You can publish a read only or editable version of your sheet
-Anyone with the sheet URL can access the sheet
-Users do not need to log into Smartsheet or have a Smartsheet account
-When you update your sheet, the published sheet will be automatically updated
-Users can have access to a published sheet and only the published sheet, even if the sheet is located in a workspace
To publish a sheet, select the Publish tab at the bottom of your sheet.
Here's information from our Help Center on publishing sheets: http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/en/portal/articles/522078-publishing-sheets-reports

Thanks Travis... That sounds like just what I am looking for.
I will have a bit of a play
Victor, I hadn't thought about Cell Linking. I can use that to solve another issue I was working through
