This User cannot accept ownership!
Hello There,
I had created a form in my Workspace and I'm trying to change the ownership to other registered user.
I have encountered below message:
"This user cannot accept ownership at this time. Please retain your ownership or select a different user."
Would you please let me know why we receive this message and how can we resolve it.
Thanking you.

Hi Sepi,
Is the user shared to the sheet already? Is the sheet in a Workspace?
The sheet has to be shared with the user with any permission first to be able to make them the owner but if it's in a Workspace the user has to have Admin access.
I hope this helps you!
Have a fantastic week!

I have moved the page from Workspace to sheets and then I was able to change the ownership.
Thanks a lot for your help

I shared the Workspace and the Smartsheet to the person to whom I'm transferring ownership. This seems to have solved the issue.
My recommendation to SS is that they make this a more intuitive action or explain the flow better in the pop up responses.
I've wasted a bit of time on this now...

Can someone please help me how I can share my smartsheet to the shared mailbox. I have already shared the sheet and workspace to the shared mailbox id. But when I am trying to make it Owner I get this error "This user cannot accept ownership at this time. Please retain your ownership or select a different user." My purpose to make the shared mailbox as a owner so that all the notifications can go via Mailbox name instead mine.

I hope you're well and safe!
Does the shared mailbox account have a license?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks Andrée appreciate your quick reply on this. So if we get a license for the shared mailbox this will resolve right? and we can use the shared mailbox id for all the notification since shared mailbox will be the owner of the sheet after that.

Happy to help!
Basically, yes, but there are some things to think about when it comes to the specific workflows as well, and what triggers them and similar.

Thank you. One last thing I wanted to ask is if I make the mailbox as a owner can I change the ownership again in future. We have 2-3 members with admin rights to the mailbox so can we all have the capability to change the ownership whenever we want? The reason for asking this to make sure we don't loose the option to change the ownership in future.

Hi Andrée, Can you please help me with the formula where if the column1 has any value from the list (i.e. test1, test2, test3, test4) the output should be "Test Result".
I tried this with the formula =IF([Column1]@row, = "Test1" + "Test2" + "Test3" + Test4","Test Result") but the output is coming #INVALID DATA TYPE

Thank you for the recommendations.
After sharing the sheet with the shared mailbox
1 - I am logging out from my personal Smartsheet
2 - when i am trying to enter from Shared Mailbox, it is taking me back to my personal profile on SmartSheet.
Can this be changes? Also, I am asking this in order to understand if we change the ownership of the Smartsheet to the shared mailbox how is that going to work if that mailbox can not access now.
Thanks

I still have this problem. The subject user is an admin, and the sheet is in sheets, not in a workspace. I would like the automated work-flow's(I have generated) emails to come from this new owner.
Thanks,
Stan

Hi @Andrée Starå !
The sheets we are trying to transfer ownership are in the "Sheets" folder, not in a Workspace.
The person to whom we are trying to transfer ownership has access to the sheet currently as an editor.
We're getting that same error message referenced at the top of this chain.
I asked for the person to try to make me the owner of the sheet - I'm the site admin - and that resulted in the same message.
The goal for us is to transfer ownership to this person because this person to whom we're transferring ownership owns a workspace we wish to move the sheets to.
Any further assistance is greatly appreciated!
