I have a sheet shared with other users, but since the sheet has check Boxes to for approval I want to block other users from editing that column (check box) but still be able to view it.
If the other users only need to view the sheet but not make changes - under the 'share' box, you can change their status to "Viewer"
You can also lock columns from editing by right clicking on the column title.
Hope this helps!
I run into this need frequently. If you lock the column and leave others unlocked, anyone with edit rights can edit the unlocked but be prevented from editing the locked ones. Admin or above can edit all. I use this type of hierarchy frequently as I have mixed audiences on certain sheets with specific rights depending on use.
