Getting approval notifications to email working
Hello folks,
I have created a travel approval workflow whereby once a request for approval is submitted from a form populating a new row in a sheet, it should notify the approver via email.
I can't seem to get it to work. The notification comes within the notifications center in the app (desktop and mobile), but the email notification just isn't arriving. The approver is the admin of the sheet and is clearly tagged as the email to whom the request should be sent.
Any ideas?
Chris

Hi Chris,
Ask the admin to check his Notifications in the Account Settings (Circle in the upper right corner) > Personals Settings > Notifications and that Email is checked in the Update and Approval Requests row. (See attached picture)
Hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks Andree,
Thanks for the input!
Actually it was our mimecast service that was blocking the smartsheet automation@ email from getting to my inbox. Fixed it now and working like a dream.

Another question though...
As part of this travel approval request workflow I've provided 'decline', 'approve' and 'need more information' options. For the need more information option the notification back to the original requestor provides them a link back into the form through which they submitted the original request, but it formats the form differently including hidden fields. That makes it messy and confusing as they didn't obviously appear initially.
Any idea how to format the form when its sent back out for updating so they don't appear?

Happy to help!
Glad to hear you found the reason for the issue.

In the Update Request > Advanced Options > Column visibility, you can select which columns should be visible.
Hope that helps!
