Predecessor numbers automatically updating

When I add new lines to the sheet, the predecessor numbers do not automatically update to the change in the number to the task to which it should be linked. How can I make sure they update as I edit the sheet?

Are you adding the new line at the end of the sheet? Then there is nothing to update and the predecessor won't be auto-filled like formatting or formulas.

 

Are you adding the new line somewhere in the middle or top (thus shifting the rows below it down)? Then the predecessors below it should change.

The only reason I can think that they would not would be if your dependencies had been disabled or the Predecessor column was misnamed.

 

 

Project Settings are found after showing the Gantt chart view in the upper left (the gear symbol)
