Chart on dashboard does not dynamically update

Hi All

 

I am new to this forum and Smartsheet and your help is appreciate it.

 

I have created a dashboard which has a Chart widget. I have selected the data from my sheet which is linked to the chart. When I add a new row of data into the sheet the chart on the dashboard does not refresh to show the new information. I have to manually go and edit data and change the range to include the new row. Even when I edit the chart and choose columns it still the same problem. My sheet is a simple name of task, start date, end date, assigned to, % complete and my chart shows assigned to and percent complete columns

When the chart is built, it will ONLY look at the data within the specified range. Adding a new row to the chart would have to be done manually.

 

Are you able to provide some details and/or screenshots? We may be able to help you find a solution.

One way to do this might be to create a Report based on the data and then base your Dashboard Widget on that report.  The Report would capture new rows that are updated.

Why not build a feature where the charts and reports update as there are new rows add to the source sheet? I'm surprised Smartsheet doesn't do this.
