Auto inputting a date based on a status change

Hi,

I want to set today's date in a date column when the status, in a status column on that row, is set to something other than 'open'. I don't want the date to change once it is set so the TODAY() function does not work for me. 

Is there a function to do that?

Hi,

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment natively in Smartsheet, but it's a great idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

A workaround could be to use a third-party solution like Zapier or similar to store the date based on the status.

Would that work?

Hi Andree,

Thanks - I'll do that. The 3rd Party option could work, if I could get the company to approve the app for us, but unlikely to get that done any time soon.

Seems I'm 2/0 for features I really need.

A possible workaround until you get an approval to use Zapier or similar could be to use the Alerts & Actions to send an update request when the status changes and change the date manually.

Hi Andree,

Yes - that was my fall back solution. I'm actually sending an alert to me. Another way to keep an eye on the program (many projects/many hands!)
