Simple percentage

Hi all,

I'm trying to do a basic calcution - creating a percentage of actual revenue against revenue targets. I just need to have a formula that takes our current revenue and shows it as a percentage against target, but I can't for the life of me work how to do it! Any wise words please?

awesome, thanks - now to find out how to only take the sum of parent cells in a column!

Tom,

To show the percentage that one number is to another, use this:

=[Actual Revenue]2 / [Target Revenue]2

Change these cells to match yours.

As far as SUMing only parent rows, you could do a couple things:

1. add an indicator (such as a checked box) to each parent row and use that in a SUMIF statement.

2. Add a new parent row, then indent all your other parents under the new parent and use the SUM(CHILDREN() function.

The video in help center (http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/portal/articles/775363) is a great place to start, which shows how to use formula. The help also has a link to a formula examples template (Look for " Click here to preview the Formula Examples Template ").

A few points I want to highlight some of the toolbar buttons that you may find useful:

* Use the "$" button to format the revenues columns

* Use the '%" button to format the percent column

* (Optional) Use "<-0.00" button to show more digits on both the revenues and percent columns
