How to get the sum only for a Specific Dropdown Value Selected

Hi,

I want to get the sum for only the dropdown value selected:

Here is the Situation:

First Column: I have 3 Resource Type:

1. Offshore

2. Onshore

3. Remote

Column 2: I have resource Name

Column 03 to 35  is a Hour Cloumn ( Where it shows how mnay hours each of my resource is available to work)

 

Now I need to calculate:

1.  How many totals hours I have for each of my resource (daily, weekly and Monthly)

2. How many total hours I have for each of the resource type mentioned above (daily, weekly and Monthly)

Please help! I know we can use children function but I can't do it now!!!!! Please see the attached screenshot

What do you mean you can't do the children function now? it should just be a sumif. Is this parsed out onto 2 separate sheets currently?

@L@123,  I have tried with Children function but for some reason it's showing incorrect formula.

The resources are not children of row 5 though - that's why the Children function won't work. As @L@123 mention - sum if is the way to go with this problem, see below.

Hi Rafsun,

You can use the CHILDREN function if reference row 9.

I have applied those and it worked but it's just giving me the sum by per day. Any idea how can I select the range for a week, meaning my week 1 (ranging from 4/15 to 4/19). I need sum of the weekly hours for a particular resource type.
