Counting Check Boxes Across Multiple Sheets

I have the same sheet for 7 different individuals that has 12 columns and 38 rows...each cell is a check box.  I want to create the same sheet that shows a count of each sheet per cell.  So, how many of the 7 sheets selected row 1, column 2?  How many selected row 1, column 3?  And so on.

I have seen numerous discussions about how to count check boxes, which has been very informative, but I haven't seen any that count boxes across sheets.  I tried using COUNTIFS and the "Reference Another Sheet" option, but it got very convoluted very quickly.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong by selecting multiple sheets...or maybe I'm not using the right components of the formula between each reference?  Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Hi,

I'd recommend using cell-linking to collect everything on the new sheet and then sum everything on that sheet.

Would that work?

Hi Andree,

I'm not really sure why I would need to do that though.  It seems as if there is a formula that could work for me using the ability to reference other sheets, but I think I'm just using the formula wrong.  Hopefully someone else has had a need for something like this.

If I understand you correctly, you would need to set up multiple VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH formulas so I think it would be much easier to cell-link everything to a master sheet and then do the calculations.

Essentially, I want each cell to show the number boxes checked for that cell from the three sample sheets where they checked the boxes that applied to them.
