when adding a new event to construction spreadsheet start date will not change

i have add some rows to a certain stage in the construction process, however with each new event i add the start date always goes back to the construction start date no matter if i change it on the calendar function or type the date in please help i am using a gantt chart to plot this project out

i have been trying all day on the start date column all the new events start on 6/25/2016 and no matter what i do i can not get that date to change, i can set a different date but as soon as i hit enter it goes right back to the date. what am i doing wrong?

Hi Jody, it sounds like you may have a predecessor value in the parent row for these tasks. Try removing the predecessor from the parent row, then change the dates for your tasks.
