Charting cell values over time

Hello,  We are using the smartsheet as an interactive issue resolution tool in a workspace environment where each project has its own smartsheet.  We have the dashboard set up which pulls key data points we are aggregating within each smartsheet (ie number of open issues, how many are high priority, medium priority low priority, total number of issues).  What we would like to do is chart the key data points overtime.  Looking for a "bread crumb" or more info on how to go about charting this data over time, as a visual indication if project is stabilizing or needs more attention.  First though was is it possible to chart the metric widget over time.

Any help would be appreciated.

You would need to use a Metrics sheet. On that sheet you would use a date column to list out the dates you want to chart for.

 

You would then use a COUNTIFS function to count each issue type you are wanting to track for each date.

 

You can then use that table to build a chart widget.

Thanks for the extra detail, Alejandra.

 

As a note... You can also set your column headers to reflect dates and chart your data out that way. I use this for Year to Date tracking on a summary sheet of all projects.

 

In the attached screenshot you will see what I mean. For ease of use, I duplicate the date at the bottom so I can use cell references. This allows me to dragfill.

 

This particular table is built for a stacked bar chart, but it could easily be used for a line graph.
