Calling Travis . . . Webform email layouts

Travis,

When a user submits a webform and requests an email copy of the responses the rows are aligned vertically in the email they receive.  However, the email I receive as a result of the Alert I have set up has the rows aligned horizontally.

The vertical alignment is much more useful IMHO.

Why the difference and can we get the same choice of vertical or horizontal alignment in webform responses that we now have when sending a row?

Thanks,

Dave B

    Hi Dave - Notifications will often contain multiple rows (sometimes 50+) and it could lead to a poor experience if each row was listed vertically.

    I'll go ahead and submit your suggestion of having the option to receive notifications in vertical view to our Product team.

  • Please add my vote to this, much more user friendly for rows with multiple columns.

    @Travis:

    I understand your point.  However, in a single row notification there are currently TWO formats - one is vertical (the confirmation to the webfor user) and the other is horizontal (the notification sent by Alert settings).  So the code is already there for a vertical alignment and it would make sense to have ONE layout.

    And yes, I agree vertical works best for single row.

    Thanks for passing this along.

    Dave

    Yes...the we also need the format to be vertical as it is MUCH easier to read and holds its formatting when forwarded. The horizontal email is formatted but when forwarded it loses its formatting and is VERY difficult to read.

    We would prefer the vertical layout as well.  We would like to use Smartsheet webforms to collect information and send it automatically to some resources outside of our company, but the horizontal layout highlighted in yellow doesn't look very professional, so we aren't able to use it at this time and have to come up with an alternate option.  Manually sending the row with the vertical layout works perfectly, but we need this to be an automated process that is sent upon creation.  So please add my vote to this change!  It would be great to be able to choose a vertical or horizontal layout when creating the alert, so the layout can be updated for different alert scenarios.
