I would like to change a cell if an attachment is received

I need to send reminders to suppliers for them to attach specific files such as datasheets etc. Once the file has been received I would want Smartsheet to stop sending further reminders.

I think possibly a solution is for a cell to change status if an attachment is received. I could then create a logic statement which will only show a reminder date if that cell is blank. I'm not too sure if Smartsheet has the capability of changing the cell value if an attachment is received.

Can anybody help?

Hi Michael-- Brett is correct, we don't currently offer a formula operator that can "read" the attachments column, but I've added your vote for it to our enhancement request list. Our developers will consider it for a future update!

In the meantime, I think Brett had a good suggestion. You could include a checkbox for your users to check when they include an attachment, then run the formula off of this column.

Unforutunately there are no formulas that let you "Read" the attachments cell. You would have to have a seperate coumn, perhaps a check box, indicating what has been attached that is marked when the file is attached.

It wouldn't be perfect, but I think this is your best option.

Found this discussion searching for how to do this. When our tasks are complete (checkbox) we require that the documentation of that task be attached. Really would like to set up conditional formatting with a formula that alerts/highlights if a task is complete but there's no attachment to that row. +1 Vote
