Customise Smartsheet notification content


The notification feature in smartsheets is great and is an efficient way to keep on top of any changes to my sheets; however, there are occasions when i would want notifications to go to other people but not for them to have to see the whole row (with some of my sheets the sheer number of columns makes this the rendering of the row info in an email visually unappealing as well as giving people unnecessary info.


Ideally I would like to customise what columns are sent in a notification (but can't see this as an option); alternatively if anyone has found a workaround that gives the benefits of a the instantaneous update with specific columns?


Assuming the feature, as I'd like to make use of it, is not available I'd like to table that as an enhancement Smartsheet people.  Thank you J

    Hi Marc-- We don't currently offer the ability to customize which columns are included in Notifications, but I've added your vote for this to our enhancement request list. Thanks for your input!


    In the meantime, you can customize the columns included in "Send Row" emails. This wouldn't be instantaneous, but you could set up a manual or recurring email containing only your desired columns to be sent to your recipients.


    Another option might be to use our integration with Zapier to trigger an email after updates. This would allow you to create a custom email with only your desired columns. Let me know if you run into any difficulty setting up any of these workarounds!
