Can information be pushed into a SmartSheet from an email message

Hi there,

I am curious to find out if I can embed a button (or link) into an email that would make an entry into a SmartSheet.

Let's say I want to send an email which asks the recipient to choose one of two options.  I could send them to a SmartSheet form and have them fill it out, but what I would rather do is have them click on a link and have their selection, along with their email address, pushed into the sheet.

A possible solution could be to use the third-party service, Zapier to set something up. (untested)

I have not used Zapier and have only done a cursory look into the capabilities, but I do not think something like this would work as we would not know what mail client the recipient would be using and it appears that Zapier is app dependent.  If we knew that all recipients were using Outlook, it might be a possibility but since the recipients are not employees but rather clients of our business, we would have no control over their environment.

I appreciate your suggestion, and if you think of anything else, please let me know.

With that many, what I was thinking wouldn't apply. I was thinking if it was just a few respondents, you could do a form for each and set some invisible fields with default values then the form submission from them would only be the one column you'd like to capture. With current functionality, and trying to rely on the native SS platform, I would perhaps suggest an abbreviated webform with a field that they fill out with their email address and their selections. I've done that without burdening the submitter too badly. I also capture their email address into a contact column where you can take actions through automation later in the workflow if needed. I've done surveys this way for events and had some success. Good luck with whatever route you choose.

At a glance, I think Zapier or a similar service could work, but I would need more information to make sure.

Zapier isn't dependent on the email client. It will only use the email address to send the message.

Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

To add. If Scott's suggestion to use Automated Update Request works, I would do it in that way.

Come to think about it you could also use Automated Approvals where they can use the buttons to select one of two choices.
