Automation Workflow - Error Check

I am setting up an approval workflow and have run into some questions. 



Trigger: If "Status" is set to "Sent for Approval"

Action: Send approval to "Final Approver" 


Now, it's a very simple workflow, but, if my "Final Approver" is not populated, or there is a typo, etc. Is there a way for it to automatically notify me that the workflow "failed" or something of that nature to inform me that the approval was never sent and i have an error i need to correct?
