Error when submitting a form.
Workspace owner has created a form and published it. Users that are members of the workspace receive an error when attempting to submit the form. Error message is: There was an error submitting the form. Please try again. If the problem continues, please visit www.smartsheet.com/gethelp. The user/owner of the form has reached out to Smartsheet, but we still do not have resolution. Thoughts on what to check? Thanks, Mike

Double check that the URL is still correct and that the original sheet the form was created on still exists.

I am also having the same problem; I checked the URL and the sheet of the form is existing

Hi,
@michael_hostetler85551 & @Juan Camilo Perez Vivas,
Strange!
Have you tried it on different devices and locations?
If you haven’t already, I would recommend that you reach out to the Smartsheet Support Team. Smartsheet Support Team
I'd be happy to have a look and test if it works for me!
Can you maybe share the form or a copy of it? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@getdone.se)
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Best,
Andrée Starå

Hi - we were able to resolve the issue. First, the sheet has many formulas and columns, but not sure that contributed to the issue. Anyway, the sheet/form owner had several automations, including one that updated the status field to submitted when a row was added and an auto-number existed. We would sometimes get the error and sometimes not, but the form would take over 30 seconds to save or error out. We removed the logic that checked for the auto-number existing and the form worked every time and saved in about 5 seconds. We've redesigned around that particular requirement and all is good. Thanks for the replies to everyone! Mike

Hi Andrée
The same problem occurs for one of my colleagues though she is the owner of the form she receives an error when attempting to submit the form. This happens especially when she tries to submit the form after attaching a file.
The error message is: There was an error submitting the form. Please try again. If the problem continues, please visit www.smartsheet.com/gethelp. The user/owner of the form has reached out to Smartsheet, but we still do not have the resolution. Could you please help identify and fix the error?
Thank you

This is extremely frustrating. I am having the same issue and getting a ton of complaints from my team because the form is not working. Please provide a working solution. None of the below suggestions worked.
-
Same issue here affecting my entire team since around 11am PST.
-
This is happening on one of my sheets also, and it's disrupting our processes. Has anyone had luck resolving this?
-
Did anyone find a resolution to this problem?
-
I had to reduce my sheet's complexity to get the form working again. We hadn't exceeded any established sheet limits, but there were so many workflows trying to process, and cross-sheet references trying to update, that things timed out and couldn't process correctly.
-
My form is simple and only has 3 workflows. But I'll try to remove one and see if that helps.
So frustrating as we just went live and it happened to the first user!
-
@Cat325 That does sound frustrating. I would contact Smartsheet Support, given that your sheet is not overly complex.
-
I just had a form user get the error message.
I worked with them to trouble shoot and identified the cause as one of his attachments.
It was a PPT that had brackets in the title and was PW protected. Once these were removed the form worked as expected.
Hope this is helpful @Andrée Starå @Paul Newcome @Cat325 @Julie Fortney @Pooja Shengali @wollen @marnkrit @michael_hostetler85551 @Juan Camilo Perez Vivas

@Phil Wightman Thanks for sharing this info! I like that we're building a collective list of things to check if this issue occurs again. That's what the Community is all about. :)
