Limited acces to a sheet

dears,  we manage all our shipments of our customer in several datasheets.  For some milestones we need a third party update some cells in a report.

we though do not want them to see all the data of which part is confidential.  Is that possible.  In essence, give someone the ability to update a report without giving him/her access to the datasheet.

thanks to let me know.

    Try using Update Requests.

The added advantage of sending UR's from a Report is that you save time on removing the columns you don't want them to see.

    Hope this helps

  • thanks for your comments.

I know the UR do exist but I would like the third party work in a report.

Sending the UR's would not be efficient.

It would be great if the third party would only be able to see what is in a report and work with that so that some confidential columns and attachements would not be visible to them....

Would this be possible through other means?  Maybe create a link between google docs and have the info which is inputted in google docs upload into the smartsheet?

not sure how we can overcome but this owuld be a great feature to the whole system.

    thanks for your comments,

  • Hello Alfons—

There isn't a way to share reports to collaborators without having to share the underlining source sheets but I'll add your vote for this feature to our enhancement request list for further consideration.

Update Requests are currently the best method for achieving what you need within Smartsheet.
