How to transfer a sheet ownership from a user that is not in my organization?
Hello!
I'm trying to take ownership of sheets I am the admin of, it gives me the error, "you cannot take ownership of this item because the current owner is not in your organization".
My account was part of the parent company business plan, but now our company got their own plan, so my email is no longer part of the parent company plan. How can I take ownership of sheets that belong to our company? Can the owner transfer the ownership from their end?

Hi Med,
The Owner has to transfer it to you.
More information.
Did that work?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Thank you so much,
I have read that article before and somehow missed the most important detail "The owner will need to transfer ownership if you are not in the same organization."

Easy to miss!

Any ideas on how to do this when there are more than 300 assets that need to be transferred?
We have two plans in our organization, a Smartsheet Standard Plan and an Advance Plan. I have a user in the Standard plan (of which, I am the administrator) and we need to get the users content (who has left the organization) transferred to a user in our Advance Plan. The method described above does seem to work but trying to do that with over 300 assets will be an arduous task to say the least . . . for both the current owner and the new owner. Not only will the new owner need to go through and take ownership of each object, but then they will have to touch each object to remove the old owner from sharing. There has to be a better way and I would love to hear any ideas anyone has.
