Requested Feature
It would be nice if we could sort by selecting a range like in Excel. Now if you want to sort and have some text above the start of the data, that gets put at the bottom of the sheet. In addition to that, it would be really nice if we could have a protected area on top that is not part of the data - like a title, subtitle area. So when we are sorting that area is excluded from the sort.

Yes that would be very useful. However one o the reasons it is not there at the moment is that Smartsheet is not a sheet as in Excel. It is a psudo database table with overlaying additional functionality to make it look and feel like a sheet and act like a sheet in many ways.
To have this capability would require quite a lot of development, but its not impossible so we can live in hope.
