"Save As New" doesn't retain Auto data...
I use a separate sheet to track projects in each calendar year. This means I need to carry over partially completed projects rows from the previous year's sheet to the next year's sheet. I've used a "Save as New" to duplicate the sheet, formatting and data, but my "Submitted" column which contains the "Date Created" now reflects today's date for ALL rows. I wanted the submission data to be retained from the prior sheet. Is there a way to add the option as to whether or not rows utilizing Auto-Number columns can retain copied information when "save as new" is used?

Stewart,
there are times I have wanted this too. Maybe they could add a checkbox in the Save As Options that allows all data to remain. Essentially a clone of the current sheet.

Yes exactly.

New Column: Submitted2
Formula for Sumbitted2: =Submitted
Copy All of Sumbitted2 and paste it over itself as values only, not the formula, preserving the values
Perform Save As New (on 1/4/2017) - Making all values in the DateCreated column 1/4/17
New Column: Submitted3
Formula for Submitted3: =If(DateCreated > Submitted2, Submitted2, DateCreated)
Submitted3 now holds the true DateCreated value for all rows. Adjust formulas accordingly.
