Formulas and attachments
We utilize SmartSheet to collect information for complex implementation projects. We have applications where our users will be attaching documents to specific items/rows in a sheet. It would be awesome to be able to write various formulas to interact with the attachments. For example:
- Detect if there are any attachments
- Count how many attachments there are
I do not believe there is any way to do so currently, or have a missed something? It seems that it might be possible to create a Workflow to potentially do some of this (update a cell when an attachment is added).

Hi Justin,
within Smartsheet I can imagine only a workaround. Something in the line of automatically copying a new row with an attachment or a newly added attachment to another sheet and in your original sheet cross sheet counting how many times your row title (or other selector) appears in the other sheet. Complicated.
Another option could be a service like Zapier. Zapier can catch the event of new/modified attachments and then can modify values in a defined row. Would that be possible?
Hope this helps
Stefan
