Highrise Construction

The highrise guy

I am constructing a highrise residential building and am new to Smartsheet. I would like to get an idea how to set-up my sheets. Ex. One sheet for concrete, one sheet for plumbing, or one sheet for floor 1, another sheet for floor 2, etc.... Anyone have any suggestions for me?

You have multiple options.

If it makes sense, I would recommend trying to keep it one sheet instead.

Thank you. I have set up my sheet to include all activities in one sheet and the sheet is quite large. I was thinking is would be more efficient to break it up. I do appreciate your comment and accept any help you offer. Have a great day.

I agree that one "Master Sheet" is a great place to start. While it may be rather large, it also has all of your deliverable gathered together in one place. For easier management you can look into Reports which can provide a sort of filtered version of the sheet, and there are NUMEROUS options for pulling metrics depending on a lot of different variables.

I agree with Paul, and with Reports and a thorough structure, it would probably work best and be simpler to maintain with automation and more.

The best structure/solution also depends on who should have access and to what.

Is it only you and your internal team that will work on it or subcontractors as well?

I am the only one controlling the data and share it with my management for their information.

Then I would keep it one sheet and use filters/reports to simplify. You could also create Dashboard or automated reports for management for them to get an accessible overview.

I am new to Smartsheets and am getting the overwhelming replies that one sheet is better. I will have to learn more about automation but I think this path is the best one. I will proceed along this path.
