Resource View Possible?

I'm setting up a Sight/Dashboard for the team of engineers.

I like how the Resource View shows each sheet someone is assigned to under their name, with a link to the sheet for more info. My goal is to incorporate that into the dashboard/sight view Is there a way I can achieve this for a without having to update it manually?

I'm thinking a widget for each team member showing the name of the sheet (linked) that they have a task assigned to them in.... but am open to any other suggestions

Thanks in Advance!

Open to ideas / suggestions for ONE VIEW for a Multi-Job Overview for each individual (cell linking multi sheets?) Preferably, something that auto-updates.

    Hi Laura,

One way you could do this would be to create a report for each of your team members that pulls in rows from the source sheets that are assigned to them. More on Reports are available in our Help Center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/522214-creating-reports

You could then put that on a Sight with the Report Widget. Details on this widget can be found here: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/518558-widget-types-for-smartsheet-sights#report

One caveat to this: if you'd like to create reports and put those on a Sight, don't use the Current user criteria for the report. Instead, create reports for each user.

The reason you'd have to do it this way is that the Report Widget will always treat the Current user as the person who added the Report Widget to the Sight, which would be you. Everyone would just see a Report Widget with your assigned tasks.

If you decide that you DON'T want to use the report data in a Sight, then you can use the Current user criteria and create one report for your entire team. More on using the Current user criteria here: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/529454-viewing-your-assigned-tasks#report

  • I would like to see Sights updated with ability to display a "Current User" report. I am currently working to build a template Sight that could be used by all employees. The intent would be to utilize a task report set up for current user as one of the main widgets. It would be preferable to set up a few different Sights based on the employee's role rather than setting up a custom one for each employee which could be well over 100.
