Gantt Chart - Duration changing Start/End dates incorrectly

Hello,

I am having an issue when in Gantt chart mode. If I have a start date set, and change the duration to be 2 days, the end date is automatically adjusting to be three days from the start date, even though the duration is still correctly listed at 2. This only occurs over weekends and works properly over weekdays so I thought maybe it was in my work day settings. I adjusted my work days to include Saturday and Sunday and am still having the same issue.

Looking for a solution ASAP!

Thanks in advance.

Best,

Liz

    Liz,

    If I understand your post:

    1. You enter Friday's date in the [Start Date] column (03/03/17)

    2. You entered 2d for duration.

    3. Smartsheet updates [End Date] to Monday (03/06/17) {US date format}

That is 2 days duration over 4 calendar days.

You change your Working Days to include Saturday and Sunday.

    1. You enter Friday's date in the [Start Date] column (03/03/17)

    2. You entered 2d for duration.

    ...

and your still get 03/06/17 for the [End Date]?

When I do this, I get 03/04/17 (Saturday) as my end date. This is what I am expecting.

    Did I miss anything?

    Craig

  • You're correct Craig. I've figured it out though! I didn't realize there were two places to update your work days. I had included Saturday's and Sunday's in my work days in the overall account settings but hadn't adjusted the Project Settings. After adjusting it in the project settings as well the dates would auto-generate correctly for the given duration.

    Thanks for the response!

Ah, I often neglect the account settings because I rarely change them.

    Glad you figured it out.

As you discovered, account settings will impact new sheets, but not existing ones.

And this is a good thing.

    Craig
