Workspace vs Folder , difference ?

Good day,

what are the main difference between folder directory and workspace directory ?

They look like to different directory type with same functions to me and wondering if im missing some advantages for my misunderstanding

Hope you are fine, the main difference is that you can't share permission by folder but you can do it by workspace and all folders, sheets, reports, dashboard inside that workspace will inherit those permissions.

I don't see the benefit of workspace vs folder. It actually seems redundant.

I have 1 Workspace that has 5 folders for 5 subcontractors. How do I give shared access to each subcontractor to only have access to their respective folder and not all files in the Workspace?

I hope you're well and safe!

You must share each item individually or move them to different Workspaces.

Other options would be premium apps, Dynamic View, or Control Center.

Would any of those options work/help?

When I highlight 1 items/file to share, the only sharing option I have is "Share Workspace". How do I share just one file?

Happy to help!

If you right-click or click share when you have the file open, you should see something like the one below. When you add an email, you should be able to click on Share, which will only share the current item.
