Printing Grouped Reports

Hi @JuliaE and everyone else on this thread,

We recently updated the Community and created a new area where you can create Idea posts to submit your ideas and feedback to the Product team in a more visible way than the previous feedback form. This allows other members to vote on your idea! Adding a comment to a discussion thread in other Community categories won't be reviewed by the Product team, but this Product Feedback category will be reviewed monthly. (You can of course still fill out the feedback form linked above as well).

There is already a new Idea specific to Printing Grouped Reports. Please add your feedback on to this post!

We're also working on adding a way to Vote directly from within the post, but for now, you'll need to click the Up arrow on the post from the main list feed to Vote:

I have created an Ideas post in the new Smartsheet Product Feedback section of the Community Site.

I would appreciate it if you head over there and upvote it;

Provide users with the ability to Print a Grouped Report — Smartsheet Community.

Whilst you can view it via that link, to vote you'll have to go to the home page and search down the list. (It's not too far from the top - Page 1 or 2 and select the Upvote icon.

Hopefully, with your support, we can get Smartsheet to update the system to provide some printing!

Add my vote for this function. There is no point to make a report and then not being able to export it and inform other people properly, you need to have the same view of the report. I think this is a basic function that must be available. Please add this function.

This "solution" is only minimally helpful since the report widget will only allow 500 rows max.......

I totally agree with everyone's comments regarding the AMAZING Group headings & Summarizing headings but the inability to utilize them past just viewing on a screen. THIS is the data and KPIs we are wanting to print for or share with our teams and management.

Bring on the upgrade PLEASE!

Hello and thank you for your answer to my email regarding this feature.

However – I see looking at your forum, that you have had many. many requests for this (basic!) feature dating back to early 2021.

Looking at your release notes, there have been many, many product release feature since then, including Google Ads integration????

It does appear that Smartsheet, good as it is, is enhance with features that your development team consider to be important rather than actually looking at user requests, which is disappointing.

Considering the volume of requests for this (basic) feature, think that you as a company do at least owe it to your subscribers to at the very least look at this seriously and publish a release date as early as possible.

Your email answered;

"At this time, Smartsheet does not have the ability to include summaries or groupings in a report printed version. However, I've let our Product team know about your request. Due to the large number of variables they have to consider when choosing what to develop next, we can't confirm when or if this will be built, but we have let them know."

This seems like a standard answer rather than a serious consideration.

Please do post a reply to this for the satisfaction of your paying customers!

I would also like to be able to see the group information when printing. It is the whole reason I built the report is to summarize the data from the initial sheet.

I too would like to print a grouped report. seems like this is taking a long time to get developed.

The lack of responsiveness to what should be a basic, fundamental function is so typical of Smartsheet. It is a reasonable user expectation to want to PRINT what you SEE (as its formatted) yet, Smartsheet is incapable of doing it. 👎️

Hey @Himanshu Patel, SmartSheet still hasn't implemented the feature, so I built a browser extension with a PDF generator to work around the problem. You can click here to download the browser extension.

Then click the "SSFeatures" button at the top, and then click "Generate PDF".

This is what the generated PDF looks like, and it includes the grouped and summary rows:

Once you generate the PDF then you can print it or email it to whoever you want. Please let me know if you have any feedback on the generator, or any other features in the extension. You can respond here or email me at nathan@ssfeatures.com.
