Sheets exiting folders overnight

Hi all! Wondering if anyone else has this problem.

I have all of my sheets organized nicely in folders. Many of the sheets are shared (but not at the folder-level).

Some days, I log on in the morning and everything is as I left it:

Some days, I log in and some of my sheets have decided to sneak out of their folders into my main sheets folder. It's not consistent as to which sheets move. I have also noticed no correlation between whether someone else has opened the sheets. (Most of the sheets are rarely accessed.)

Anybody have an idea what may be happening and/or how to prevent this? I seem to be the only one on my team who is having this problem.

Are all of them sheets that you own?

@Paul Newcome Most - if not all of them (I'll pay attention tomorrow!) - are owned by my supervisor. Long story short, she thought we had to transfer ownership to her to save backups of the sheets...so she owns most of my sheets.

However, not all of the sheets that I don't own sneak out of their folders at night. It's totally inconsistent.

Is it possible that the sharing permissions are getting changed at some point? If you are removed from a sheet it will disappear, and then if you are added back to it, it will be in your main Sheets folder as if it were something new.

@Paul Newcome Unfortunately, no. Although we transferred ownership to my supervisor weeks ago, I am the only one who has touched most of them since then.

It's not a huge deal - I can certainly just call it a Gremlins - 1, Heather - 0 game and sort my sheets every morning. I was just curious if anyone had an easy fix to it! Thank you for your help.

And that's why you aren't supposed to feed them after midnight. Hahahaha.

I've always wondered... How do they know which timezone they are in? Are they affected by jetlag in that if they are used to my midnight and I fly them to another timezone do I use the new midnight right off or do I need to stick with my original midnight for a while? What if I feed them at 2345 and they are still digesting after midnight, or is it the act of chewing after midnight that triggers them? What time in the morning does it become safe to feed them again?

How are we supposed to raise these things without all of the details??

@Paul Newcome ...and what if midnight occurs mid-flight? Do you count midnight in the time zone they're flying above, midnight where they departed, or midnight where they arrive?

SO many questions. You're right. We need an instruction manual to get this under control.

All of that aside... You may want to reach out to Support to see if they are able to provide any insight. They may be able to at least fix the chaos created.

Thanks, @Paul Newcome. Hilariously (maybe the gremlins were listening to our conversation?), all of my sheets stayed tucked away in their nice folders last night. If I notice it again next week, I'll reach out to Support.
