Card View Filter
I want to create a filter in card view to show only "Clients" with Tasks. The card view is showing all the clients even if they have no tasks.
I am sure this is easy for someone.
Would really help me.
I did a scrappy screen shot, redacted client information. as an example.
Thank you.

Hi @CarolD
The Card View Lanes will be set up based on the Contacts that you have listed in the Column Properties for this column, regardless of if there are any rows associated with this contact or not.
The way to "hide" Lanes (see here) that don't have any associated rows would be to use the "collapse lane" function and move them to the left of the screen, like so:
So they appear here, instead:
Keep in mind that they won't automatically expand once there are rows associated, so you would need to check and ensure all your collapsed lanes have (0), and manually expand any that then say (1), etc. Will this work for you?
Cheers,
Genevieve

How are you entering tasks? Are they in another column or set as child rows?
-
tasks are entered by row, there are no child rows

Ok. How are you designating that a row is a task of a particular Client?

I see what you mean, we have a dropdown of clients in a column, so we choose the client, then add a task in a row.
here is a screen shot, I redacted the client name. Under client there is a dropdown.
Thank you.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a way to remove the clients that have no tasks from Card View.
Hopefully @Andrée Starå, @Genevieve P, or @Mike Wilday may have some insight?

Thank you for this workaround, Genevieve. Still, I agree with Carol: it would be logical for the filter to influence which columns are displayed. Here is therefor another opportunity for a potential future "feature"... ! 😎

What junk - smartsheet continues to underperform. Such expectations but I continue to be disappointed when BASIC functionality is coded as this is.
