Automation Question

Hello Smartsheets Community:

I was working on a couple of automations in a project plan that I am working on and I thought of one that could be useful. Being able to run an automation when a hyperlink is added to a task requiring work on someone else behalf. Outside of running the automation when the task is marked 100%, does anyone know of a better way to create that automation?

Unfortunately, as you've found, it's not possible to trigger a workflow when adding a hyperlink to already added text, but could they maybe update the title or check a box or similar as a workaround?

Thanks for the questions. The hyperlink would be attached to a task that requires the person assigned to fill it out.

Example:

the task is Publish Master Sample Tracker. The person responsible to this task would hyperlink the Smartsheet master sample grid to this task. Once it’s hyperlinked, I would like an automation to alert the person responsible filling it out to be alerted.

Does that make sense?

Would the hyperlink be added to a specific cell/column or the attachment section?

@Andrée Starå see the attached screenshot. What I have circled in yellow is the task with the hyperlink on the task. Does that help.
