nested groups
Does Sheetsmart allow me to create hierarchical groups? In other words, can I add a group to a parent group?
Google Workspace allows for nested groups.

Hi @jmyzk
No, currently Smartsheet contact Groups are individual, separate Groups that do not have the functionality to "nest". You would need to create different Groups based on the combination of users you'd like to see, or select multiple groups to share to at one time. Please let the Product team know about your feedback and request by filling in this form, here!

If not possible, are there ways to realize this?
Has anyone tried the combination of a workspace and groups?

Thank you for your quick response.
I made the following request.

It would be helpful to control access if I could create hierarchical groups. In other words, I want to add a group to a parent group.

Would you mind looking at the following example?
example'
Hypothetical Sales Department and groups
[groups]
Sales Department
--- Small and Medium Business Sales --> SMBS Group
--- RepA
--- RepB
--- Mid-Market Sales --> MMS Group
--- RepC
--- RepD
--- Enterprise Sales --> ES Group
--- RepE
--- RepF
IF Nested Group IS NOT Possible
[work spaces]
Sheets, reports, etc. that need to be accessible only by the SSBS group
- Small and Medium Business Sales Workspace < SSBS group
Sheets, reports, etc. that need to be accessible by all Sales Department Reps
- Sales Department Workspace < SMBS Group, MMS Group, ES Group
Sheets, reports, etc. that need to be accessible by all members of the company
- All Company Workspace < Engineering , Finance, etc. + SMBS , MMS , ES Group
IF Nested Group IS Possible
If you can use a nested group, the same accessibility control can be done in the following way.
[groups]
Create Three Group
--- SMBS Group
--- MMS Group
--- ES Group
Then create Sales Department Group using the groups created
--- Sales Department Group < SMBS group, MMS group ES group
[work spaces]
Sheets, reports, etc. that need to be accessible only by the SSBS group
- Small and Medium Business Sales Workspace < MMS Group
Sheets, reports, etc. that need to be accessible by all Sales Department Reps
- Sales Department Workspace < Sales Department Group
- All Company Workspace < Engineering Group, Finance Group, etc. +Sales Department Group
The second nested-group method is cleaner and less error-prone.
