Can a child row be auto-created when a row column status changes?

Hi,

When a row status column status changes from pending to suspend, can a duplicate row be created as a child row, and when the child row status changes from suspend to unsuspend, can another duplicate row be created as another child row?

Parent row 1, status is pending.....status gets updated to suspend

child row is created from same data in parent row 1, and status is suspend...... status is updated to un-suspend

another child row is created from same data in parent row 1, and status is un-suspend

thanks,

Peggy

    Hello @Peggy

At this time, there is no direct method to automatically create rows for parent/child hierarchy based on a change within the sheet but it is a great idea! When you can, please submit an Enhancement Request to be considered for future development with Smartsheet!

    Cheers~

@Peggy Reading your example, if you are trying to track the change dates for the statuses, you could do this with automations and helper columns. Not sure if the Parent/Child configuration is a necessity for your workflow, but wanted to point out there is an option for tracking the status changes. Note- it would be finite to one change per status.
