Is there a way to create global dropdown lists without using a third party integration?

I found the following solution that does exactly what I am looking for

but it is a third party app integration with Smartsheet. I'd like to do this without having to use an integration. Getting my company to purchase yet another software integration will take more than just sacrificing the intern by throwing them into the volcano. Any suggestions or tips?

We have the same need and I had submitted an enhancement request for Smartsheet couple of weeks back for similar feature functionality.
