Dashboards - lock widgets into place

I am building out a dashboard and have widgets in place, but when I add a new one, and move it to the area I want above or between existing widgets, the widgets move and it is challenging to get them back to where I would like them. Is there away to lock widgets so they don't move and then unlock them when needed?

I haven't found a way to lock the widgets in place. A trick that I have found useful is to create a long title bar that extends across the entire dashboard which you can drag down slowly and use it to shift the current widgets down without breaking up their layout. This method helps make room for new widgets. Also, you can right-click copy widgets from your dashboard and right-click "paste here" to see if there is enough room before placing it there.
