Dynamic View- How do you change the source sheet in the copy?
It would be great if you can change the "source sheet or report" in Dynamic view.
Even when you make a copy, it won't allow you to change the source sheet.
You click on the link to the source sheet and it sends you to the sheet for view and not to change it out.
Use case need- Dynamic view copy:
- I have 3 Business units and 3 Dynamic views set up for each Business unit based on filters I created
- They are all using the same source sheet - 2021 pipeline.
- I need to change the source sheet to 2022 pipeline source sheet. The source sheets have identical information. The dynamic views, details, and sharing information is the same as well.
Does anyone know how to do this without having to recreate the Dynamic views?

Hi @DRamsey
There currently isn't a way to update the source sheet once a view in Dynamic View has been created; you will need to create a new view with the new source sheet and mirror the configuration in order to have it point to a new sheet. (See: Dynamic View App: Create and Administrate Views).
As an alternative, what about creating a Copy of your current 2021 Pipeline sheet and make the new copy your "old" 2021 version? This would allow you to delete out the contents of your current 2021 sheet and update it to say 2022, so you wouldn't need to then create new views or change any URLs that are pointing to the view.
Cheers,
Genevieve

HI Genevieve
Thank you for answering.
Your alternative will actually work better!! I have formulas, forms from that sheet that are embedded in my website, and dashboards that I would have had to recreate by creating a new 2022 pipeline sheet.

Wonderful! I'm glad I could help. 🙂

This really needs to be updated. While I appreciate the workaround, "Save as New" is only marginally useful without being able to change the source sheet :(

I'd like to know if this has been requested as a future update that is needed. I'm unsure why the source sheet can't be changed, but I wish it could be.
