Need to Tally and List Unique Values From a Drop-Down

Hello,

I have a sheet in which I am tracking distributor complaints. I need to make a few different graphs. One of which is supposed to be a line/tally graph of how many complaints have been made by each distributor. We have a list of almost 40 different distributors which we have in a drop-down select form, for the ease of our complainants, as well as data validation.

I am trying to avoid making a whole list of every single distributor with a COUNTIF function beside it to tally up if possible, but after looking at every formula, I do not have any ideas on how this could be done. Is this possible? Will I have to do some kind of workaround with a report or something?

You could use a report, group by distributor, then create a summary field to get the count.
